Off the back of a $1.3 billion box office, The Super Mario Bros. Movie bagged itself a sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, inspired by the video game of the same name.
Things have been ticking along in development, with the only details being the cast, which includes the return of Anya Taylor-Joy as the voice of Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, and Chris Pratt as Mario.
However, Universal has now released a handful of first-look images of the film, as well as a trailer, which introduces us to a couple of new characters and even tells us who will be voicing them.
Which New Characters Will Appear in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?
It has been confirmed that Brie Larson will join the voice cast as Rosalina, with Uncut Gems co-director Benny Safdie voicing Boswer Jr.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer
The first trailer for the film has finally been released, and it’s over two minutes long. Opening with Bowser, slinging paintbrushes on a canvas, we see he has painted a portrait of Mario in skeleton form, before Luigi peeks through the castle window to reveal it’s a small Bowser.
After a momentary interaction between Bowser, Luigi, and Mario, we dive into a montage that shows off the visuals, closing with our introduction to Rosalina.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Release Date
There isn’t an exact release date in this first trailer, however. Instead, the film will land only in theaters in April 2026.
IMDb currently has the film slated for release on April 3, 2026.
