Following its landmark 10th edition last year, i Light Singapore 2025 is coming back this year to celebrate another notable milestone event. With Singapore marking its 60th birthday, i Light Singapore 2025 is adding to the SG60 festivities with a whole host of new features and activities for visitors to experience.

i Light Singapore 2025 returns from 29 May to 21 June 2025 under the theme To Gather, with this year’s red colour theme chosen to commemorate SG60. Visitors will get to experience 17 new light art installations by 20 artists, alongside a myriad of activities to enjoy when coming to the festival this year. Plus, there are new sites along the Singapore River and at Raffles Place to check out – a first in i Light Singapore’s history.

With the festival opening in less than a month, let’s take a look at the key highlights you can find for i Light Singapore 2025.

Marina Bay

Setting the stage for i Light Singapore 2025 is Marina Bay, which is the main festival ground for this year’s event.

Numerous captivating light art installations are located here, one of them being Take a walk through the meadow with me by Megan Tan and Tan Shao Xuan (Singapore) from the University of the Arts, London College of Communication.

Found at the lawn beside the NTUC Building, be greeted by a dynamic garden home to 300 illuminated flowers repurposed from discarded acrylic waste. And these flowers respond to visitors’ presence too, brimming with light and music to create a sensory experience.

To bring a token of the festival home, visitors can also participate in the Design your own meadow memory acrylic charm do-it-yourself workshop, upcycling offcuts of the installation into personalised charms.

Another feature of the Marina Bay area is the Piano Walk installation by Amigo & Amigo (Australia). Hosted at the outdoor Event Plaza by the Marina Bay waterfront, visitors can step onto the larger-than-life piano to create unique melodies, which you can combine with the piano’s original composition that automatically plays every ten minutes.

At Clifford Square, located next to The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore, you can find Elementary by Tonoptik (Montenegro). Though a seemingly regular flat screen on first glance, movements by visitors interactively create unpredictable motions of shapes akin to the rhythm of the ocean.

Finally, the pontoon near the Red Dot Design Museum is home to another new installation for i Light Singapore 2025. Last year, we saw the cool Arc ZERO: Nimbus installation in action, and for this year, we have Urban Oracle by Ultravioletto (Italy).

With this installation, 24 illuminated letters are suspended along the pontoon’s edge, and you’ll be able to see their light reflected in the water below. Visitors can press red buttons that stand at three points along the boardwalk, activating light pulses on the letters that illuminate steadily like a heartbeat and trigger AI-generated messages inspired by Singapore’s past, present and future.

Beyond Marina Bay

Marina Bay isn’t the only place to experience all that i Light Singapore 2025 has to offer. New satellite sites along the Singapore River and at Raffles Place are being introduced in this year’s edition for the first time, bringing a fresh visual treat to all who visit.

Right on the façade of the UOB Plaza is Reverse Waterfall by UxU Studio (Taiwan). The installation offers visitors an intriguing spectacle that resembles a waterfall flowing in reverse, encouraging festival goers to reflect and ponder on what we accept as ‘natural’ through this new perspective.

Visitors can also head over to the nearby Cavenagh Bridge, which has been transformed with illuminated bamboo sticks that glow stunningly against the Singapore River backdrop. Titled Bridge of 1,000 Dreams, the installation signifies the dreams and visions of Singaporeans that collectively build a stronger tomorrow.

Both of these installations, which are presented by UOB, will extend beyond i Light Singapore 2025 and remain on display till 20 July 2025.

Meanwhile, Raffles Place Park hosts an inflatable garden installation. Featuring local flora in its designs, The Guardians by Matthew Aberline and The Beautiful And Useful Studio (Australia) brings an immersive space for visitors to gather and admire the beautiful tropical flowers and foliage abstracts on show.

Though Singapore River and Raffles Place are new additions to the festival, visitors can also look forward to the return of South Beach as a satellite site.

This year, South Beach presents Saulux by SPLACES.STUDIO (Malta) at its Fountain Plaza. As wind moves through the installation, the dense field of willow twigs responds in turn with light and sound, creating a unique auditory experience for visitors.

Also at South Beach is This is Not a Screen by National University of Singapore, presented by Aedas. Located near South Beach’s entrance to the Esplanade MRT station, it utilises polarised screens recycled from electronic waste to offer an interactive installation, distorting light to create interesting visual perspectives for visitors. It has been created in such a way that each person sees different images depending on their viewing angle.

GastroBeats

i Light Singapore 2025 also sees the return of GastroBeats, the signature Festival Village that provides a lively gathering ground for food and music to the community at the Bayfront Event Space.

Running from 29 May to 22 June 2025, this year’s GastroBeats introduces vibrant retail and pet-friendly zones as well as a new activation, Let’s Trouble The Water!, which features Jelilo characters — Captain Skull, One Eye, and Scarface — taking centre stage to rally visitors to take action against marine pollution.

Also at the event space are emerging music stars, aspiring food content creators, and passionate home cooks who will offer additional entertainment on the GastroBeats stage.
