Passengers travelling to Heathrow Airport are being warned to expect disruption this weekend due to engineering work.
Network Rail has announced Heathrow Express and Elizabeth line services will be axed on Saturday 16 November and Sunday 17 November due to the planned works.
Travellers are instead being urged to use the Underground to get to and from the airport, with Piccadilly line services planned to run as normal.
However, people planning trips have been advised that some trains will be much busier than normal as a result, and allow for additional time where necessary.
In addition, on Saturday, no Elizabeth line trains will call between London Paddington and Abbey Wood or Stratford.
While on Sunday, a reduced service will operate on the Elizabeth line between Ealing Broadway and Reading.
Passengers have been encouraged to use the London Underground between Central London and Ealing Broadway instead.
The disruption follows Network Rail announcing this week that tens of thousands of engineers will work on approximately 400 projects around the UK over Christmas and the New Year.
London’s Liverpool Street station will be closed from Christmas Day until January 2 due to renewal work at Bishopsgate Tunnel and improvements to the passenger experience.
Travellers are advised to use Victoria line Tube services from Walthamstow Central or Seven Sisters.
Also in the capital, no trains will call at Paddington between December 27 and 29 because of preparatory work necessary for HS2’s Old Oak Common station.
That means Heathrow Express trains will be unable to run between Paddington and the west London airport.
Passenger numbers at major stations typically drop by 50-60 per cent during the seven days between Christmas and the New Year compared with a week in November or early December.
