Cynthia Erivo brought her latest performance of Dracula to a standstill after noticing an audience member breaking theatre etiquette by filming.

The 39-year-old Wicked star is currently appearing in Kip Williams’ one-woman adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel at the Noël Coward Theatre in the West End.

But the actress brought Monday’s performance to a dramatic halt for around 10 minutes after spotting someone in the audience filming on their mobile phone.

It came just a day after Erivo completed the TCS London Marathon in a blistering time of 3 hours and 21 minutes.

Footage, circulating online, shows perplexed audience members sitting while a production assistant announces they should 'remain seated' before assuring them the show would 'resume shortly'.

Captioning one of the videos, a theatre-goer wrote: 'Not Cynthia Erivo clocking someone filming in the audience during Dracula and stopping the whole show.'

According to WhatsOnStage, another told how 'she straight up called the guy out! Put her hand up – said "excuse me, are you filing right now?!" And the person said "sorry".'

Erivo’s performance in Dracula has been met with rave reviews, with some critics describing it as a “tour de force” and a “masterclass”, while others referred to her “superhuman” endurance.

She plays every role in the story, including Count Dracula, Jonathan Harker, Mina Murray, Lucy Westenra, and Van Helsing.
