Wondering what to do in Singapore with the kids? Take them to Monstrous Fun! This annual event at the Arts House is returning with its first ever Monster Parade and creative activities with jazz legend Louis Soliano. Plus, it’s bolder and beastlier than ever…
Running from 30 May to 1 June 2025, the event will include three jam-packed days of playful, creative adventures, where kids can stomp, scribble, sing and imagine. Monstrous Fun! is part of Civic District Children’s Season 2025, organised by Arts House Limited (AHL). It transforms The Arts House at The Old Parliament into a wonderland of literary discovery and hands-on fun for children aged five and up.
What to do at Monstrous Fun!
#1 Monster Parade (NEW!)
Join Singapore’s first-ever Monster Parade through the Civic District! Families are invited to dress up in monstrously marvellous outfits, bring handmade instruments, and march alongside resident monster Britney. Every day from 4.30pm, participants in self-made costumes and accessories will be led by resident monster Britney on a lively march, setting off from The Arts House.
#2 Jazz legend Louis Soliano live
Cultural Medallion recipient Louis Soliano brings rhythm and imagination to life in the Drum-A-Story workshop, and a new digital programme, Rhythmic Exploration with Louis Soliano.
#3 Interactive musical performance (NEW!)
Participants can get a hands-on experience creating a music piece as they bop along to the beat in Bimbang and the Curios Trunk. The performance is inspired by Southeast Asian tales. It’s presented by syncretic music ensemble Open Score Project (OSP).

Crack clues and uncover hidden corners of The Arts House! This treasure hunt is a collaboration with the creative minds from School of the Arts (SOTA).

Collaborations
As part of its efforts to engage the community, AHL is partnering with ArtBeatz for Monstrous Fun! and collaborating with School of the Arts (SOTA) for this year’s Monster Hunt activity. AHL will also connect with various community groups for the event. These include after-school centres and other child-focused beneficiaries such as Beyond Social Services and the Singapore Children’s Society. This will ensure that children from diverse backgrounds can enjoy the fun and educational experience.
SOTA students Ahni Lyn Hampartsoumian and Shakira Liyana Binte Farek helped create this year’s Monster Hunt activity together with their peers. Ahni said, “We’re very excited that we were able to express our creativity in conceptualising the Monster Hunt activity!” Shakira added, “We’re looking forward to facilitating the hunt and making it a fun and imaginative experience for the families and children at Monstrous Fun!”
Families heading down to The Arts House for Monstrous Fun! also have the rare chance to round off their arts weekend with a visit to Little SIFA, the Singapore International Festival of Arts’ dedicated space for young hearts and curious minds, at Empress Lawn in front of Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall.
