PUMA has introduced the Suede Classic and Suede Bloom in the Philippines, bringing fresh colorways and styling details to one of the brand’s longest-running sneaker silhouettes.
The launch revisits the design that has moved through sport, hip-hop, streetwear, and different youth subcultures over several decades, while giving buyers two distinct interpretations of the familiar low-profile Suede.
A sneaker shaped by sport and street culture
The history of the PUMA Suede traces back to 1968 with the PUMA Crack, a model associated with the Mexico City Olympics and track and field athlete Tommie Smith. In 1973, basketball player Walt Frazier helped reshape the silhouette into the PUMA Clyde, which was later renamed the PUMA Suede in reference to its signature upper material.
The sneaker subsequently became closely associated with B-boy crews and hip-hop culture. By the early 1990s, it had also gained a following in the United Kingdom, where it became known as the “States.”
Over time, the silhouette developed an identity that crossed sports, music, dance, and street fashion, helping establish the Suede as one of PUMA’s most recognizable lifestyle designs.
Suede Classic keeps the familiar formula
The PUMA Suede Classic is available in Haute Coffee-PUMA White, PUMA Black-PUMA White, and Cayenne Pepper-PUMA White.
Its construction includes a full-suede upper, leather PUMA Formstrip, and matching suede heel overlay. A low-profile rubber outsole provides traction and stable footing for everyday use.
The material is designed to develop more character with wear while retaining the understated shape that has defined the model across generations.
Suede Bloom adds a softer interpretation
The PUMA Suede Bloom reworks the silhouette with faux pearl-inspired accents, bead-detailed laces, and other decorative touches intended to give the shoe a more expressive look.
It comes in PUMA Black-Slate Sky, Misty Pink-Powder Pink, and Frosted Ivory-Silver Fog.
Like the Classic, the Bloom retains a low-profile rubber outsole and the basic proportions of the original Suede. The differences are concentrated largely in the color palette and embellishments rather than a complete redesign of the shoe.
Philippine pricing
The PUMA Suede Classic and PUMA Suede Bloom are both priced at PHP5,500. They are available through PUMA’s online store, flagship stores nationwide, and selected official retail partners.
