At the Manila International Auto Show, Geely Motor Philippines introduced the Geely EX2, a compact electric vehicle designed to balance everyday usability with thoughtful engineering. Positioned as an urban-focused EV, the EX2 reflects Geely’s broader push toward electrification while addressing the practical demands of city driving.
Rear-Wheel Drive, Reworked for the Segment
One of the more notable engineering decisions on the Geely EX2 is its rear-wheel-drive layout, paired with a multi-link independent rear suspension. This setup is uncommon in its segment, where front-wheel-drive configurations typically dominate.
The result is a more balanced driving character, with improved weight transfer during acceleration and more composed handling over uneven road surfaces. Supporting this are performance figures that include a 4.95-meter turning radius, a 36.9-meter braking distance from 100km/h, and a 73.5km/h moose test result, placing it competitively within its class.
Power comes from an 85kW electric motor producing 150Nm of torque, integrated into Geely’s Eleven-in-One E-Drive system. By consolidating multiple components into a single compact unit, the system reduces weight by 36 kilograms, improving efficiency while freeing up space within the vehicle architecture.
Space Designed Around Efficiency
That efficiency carries over into the vehicle’s layout. The compact powertrain enables the inclusion of a 70-liter front trunk, a feature not typically found in its class.
Inside, the Geely EX2 prioritizes usable space with 36 storage compartments, a 10-liter sliding drawer beneath the front passenger seat, and 28 liters of rear under-seat storage. The main cargo area offers 375 liters of capacity, expandable to 1,320 liters with the rear seats folded.
Cabin comfort is equally considered, with a flat rear floor and 890mm of rear legroom, giving the Geely EX2 a more spacious feel than its footprint suggests.
Battery and Charging for Daily Use
The Geely EX2 is powered by a 39.4kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supplied by CATL, delivering a WLTP-rated range of 325 kilometers. This makes it well-suited for daily commuting and urban driving.
Charging capability supports 70kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to go from 30% to 80% in approximately 25 minutes. A liquid cooling system and reinforced battery structure help maintain consistent performance and durability over time.
Smart Features That Support Everyday Driving
Inside, the Geely EX2 integrates Geely’s Flyme Auto system, centered on a 14.6-inch touchscreen paired with an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.
Driver assistance features operate at Level 2, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and a 540-degree transparent chassis view. These systems are designed to improve driver confidence, particularly in tight urban environments.
A Practical Step Into Electrification
With its debut at MIAS, the Geely EX2 expands the brand’s electrified lineup alongside models like the Geely EX5 EM-i, adding a fully electric option focused on efficiency and everyday usability.
Rather than positioning itself purely on performance or range, the Geely EX2 emphasizes balance—combining compact dimensions, smart packaging, and real-world driving capability. For urban drivers, it presents a practical and well-considered entry point into electric mobility.
