At the recently concluded Makina Moto Expo, Bristol Motorcycles Philippines introduced two new Zontes models that highlight the brand’s push into both entry-level and performance segments. The Zontes 150X and 703RR represent two ends of the spectrum, each bringing advanced engineering and technology into their respective categories.
Urban Utility: Zontes 150X
Designed for daily commuting, the 150X brings a level of engineering and equipment rarely seen in the 150cc class. It is powered by a 150cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-valve engine, producing 17.7hp and 15Nm of torque, delivering responsive acceleration suited for city traffic.
A key highlight is its all-aluminum alloy chassis, contributing to a low 108kg curb weight that improves agility and maneuverability. This lightweight construction, combined with a balanced suspension setup and wide-profile tires, allows for confident handling in both tight urban roads and more open stretches.
Practicality is central to the 150X’s design. Its under-seat storage can accommodate two full-face helmets, eliminating the need for external storage for many riders. Additional convenience features include an electric seat lock and fuel cap, along with a Gen 2.5 keyless control system.
The bike is equipped with a full-color TFT display with Zontes DriveSync, dual riding modes, and dual-channel ABS as standard, reinforcing its premium positioning within the segment.
The Zontes 150X is priced at PHP169,900, positioning it as a high-spec option in the small-displacement category.
Supersport Performance: Zontes 703RR
At the other end of the lineup is the 703RR, a middleweight supersport that signals Zontes’ move into higher-performance territory. It is powered by a 699cc inline three-cylinder engine, producing 95hp and 75Nm of torque, delivering strong acceleration and high-speed capability.
The triple-cylinder configuration offers a balance between low-end torque and high-revving performance, resulting in a more linear power delivery compared to typical parallel-twin setups in the segment.
The 703RR is built on a lightweight aluminum twin-spar frame, paired with premium components including Brembo brakes, Marzocchi suspension, and Michelin Power 6 tires. These elements contribute to both stability and precise handling, whether on the road or under more aggressive riding conditions.
Advanced features include a TFT display with DriveSync, tire pressure monitoring, dual-channel ABS, and adaptive traction control. A quickshifter and slipper clutch further enhance performance, while aerodynamic winglets and a ram air intake system improve stability and airflow at higher speeds.
The Zontes 703RR is priced at PHP498,800, placing it competitively within the middleweight supersport segment.
A Two-Tier Approach to Performance
With the 150X and 703RR, Zontes presents a two-tier strategy that addresses both everyday riders and performance enthusiasts. The 150X focuses on practicality and urban mobility, while the 703RR delivers a more track-oriented experience with higher output and advanced components.
Together, the two models reflect a broader direction for the brand, combining accessible entry points with increasingly sophisticated engineering across its lineup.
