LRT-2 to extend ops starting Tuesday, Dec. 9 amid holiday rush

The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) will extend its operating hours beginning Tuesday, December 9, to cater to commuters amid the holiday rush.

In its advisory on Monday. the last train from LRT-2 Antipolo Station headed to Recto Station will be at 10 p.m. while the last train from Recto to Antipolo will be at 10:30PM.

The same schedule will be implemented on December 25, Christmas Day.

The extended operating hours will take effect until Dec. 30, Rizal Day.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has guaranteed that the one-hour extension of daily operations will not affect the LRT-2’s maintenance and safety routines.

However, LRT-2 will shorten its schedule on the following dates:

December 24 (Christmas Eve)

December 31 (New Year’s Eve)

Regular operations will resume on January 1, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will implement the following operating schedule:

December 24 and 31:

December 25, January 1:

Light Rail Manila Corporation has yet to announce if it will adjust Light Rail Transit Line 1’s (LRT-1) operating hours for the holidays. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
