Legendary anime director Tatsuya Nagamine has passed away, his colleagues revealed on Thursday. He was 53.
According to a report on Anime News Network, composer K?hei Tanaka and screenwriter Osamu Suzuki shared the news on X after Toei Animation held a tribute for the late director. Nagamine died this summer.
"Today, I attended the memorial gathering for the late Director Nagamine held at Toei Animation Studio in Osaka," Tanaka said on X. "He is undoubtedly a key contributor to the anime 'One Piece.' The achievements he accomplished in 'One Piece' were nothing short of extraordinary."
Nagamine directed works in many Toei Animation franchises including "Dragon Ball" and "One Piece."
In "One Piece," he was a series director throughout the Wano Arc. In "Dragon Ball," he directed the "Dragon Ball Super: Broly film," and served as a series director for several episodes of "Dragon Ball Super."
Other shows he directed in are "Digimon" and "Precure."
