Philippine bet to Reina Hispanoamericana 2026 Beatriz McLelland took to social media to share a closer look of her national costume.

According to the Filipina beauty queen, her costume is an ode to the first Miss Philippines, Pura Villanueva-Kalaw.

Designed by Renel Suarez, the ensemble, dubbed “Unang Reyna,” is an all-white spectacle adorned with gems, sequins, and beads. It features a structured bodice and a dramatic, voluminous tiered skirt.

“Unang Reyna honors the beginning of Filipina pageantry and leadership,” Beatriz said.

“The white ensemble symbolizes freedom from colonizers, representing liberation, dignity, and the awakening of women’s voices in public life,” she added.

The outfit was completed with a crown and a scepter, symbolizing a “historic reign” and “leadership guided by wisdom and patriotism,” as well as a sampaguita accessory in homage to the Philippines’ national flower.

According to an episode of Howie Severino Presents, aside from being the first Miss Philippines, Pura Villanueva-Kalaw was also recognized as one of the most intelligent women of her time who fought for women’s right to vote.

The Reina Hispanoamericana 2026 coronation night in Bolivia is set for February 21, where reigning Filipina queen Dia Mate will crown her successor.

Best of luck to you, Beatriz!
