Former lawmaker Zaldy Co was arrested in Prague, Czech Republic on Thursday (Manila time) for allegedly traveling without valid travel documents.
Philippine authorities have been searching for Co after an arrest warrant was issued against him and 17 others in November 2025 over supposed anomalous flood control projects.

Co reportedly traveled to New York for what was initially described as a medical leave in August 2025 while still a sitting lawmaker amid emerging controversy over flood control projects, according to US Customs and Border Protection.
He resigned from the House of Representatives around the time he was expected to return to the Philippines in September 2025.
Japan
Co was seen in Japan in November 2025, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.
This prompted discussions on possible coordination with Interpol for a Red Notice against the former lawmaker.

Stockholm, Sweden
He was reportedly in Stockholm on January 15, 2026.
This was based on notarized documents attached to a petition by his camp before the Supreme Court in connection to a case filed by the Office of the Ombudsman against him.
Lisbon, Portugal
In the same month, the DILG also received information locating him in a gated community in Lisbon.
Italy
Co was spotted in Italy prior to the Holy Week, according to the DILG.

The DILG added that Co was believed to have traveled from France by car before his arrest on April 16, 2026 (Manila time).
Germany (April 2026)
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said that Co was stopped at the Germany-Czech border after being denied entry for lack of travel documents and identification issues.
Prague, Czech Republic
Co was detained at an immigration facility in Prague.
