Juventus are considering a possible sale this summer.

Is the curtain coming down on Jonathan David’s time at Juventus?

The Canadian striker, after scoring four goals in quick succession (against Sassuolo, Napoli, Cremonese and Parma), has failed to live up to the expectations created in terms of performance and effectiveness.

Now the former Lille player risks finding himself on the fringes once again with Boga’s rise to prominence and Vlahovic’s imminent return: and Juventus are now pondering the future of their number 30.

DAVID'S SEASON

So far this season, David has scored seven goals across Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia. In recent matches, the Canadian has not been selected for the centre-forward role, which was previously filled by McKennie, then Yildiz and finally Boga.

ADDED VALUE?

And so Juventus are pondering Jonathan David’s future.

From a financial perspective, it must be noted that a potential sale of the Canadian would allow the Old Lady to make a pure capital gain, having arrived in Turin last summer on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Lille.

David, it should be noted, signed a five-year contract worth €6 million per season, a deal that makes him one of the highest-paid players in the entire Bianconeri squad.

Will he return to Ligue 1?

But what does the future hold for David? According to reports in Tuttosport, the most likely scenario would be a return to France, to Ligue 1.

However, the option of a move to Lyon does not seem a realistic prospect, given Paulo Fonseca’s presence on the bench. The most concrete option, therefore, could be Marseille, who are looking for a striker capable of scoring goals.

Relations between the two clubs are very good, which could help facilitate an agreement should negotiations get underway.

THE PREMIER LEAGUE OPTION

However, the possibility that David might move to the Premier League should not be ruled out outright, according to reports from our colleagues at Tuttosport.

Nottingham Forest tried to sign him in January, whilst Tottenham and West Ham also made attempts a year ago. Come the summer, this scenario could be considered by all parties involved.
