WHAT HAPPENED?
The Herons started the 2025 campaign in positive style, as they reached the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions League and went unbeaten through the opening weeks of the MLS season.
THE BIGGER PICTURE

They have now suffered defeat in four of their last five matches in all competitions, leading to uncomfortable questions being asked of head coach Javier Mascherano - a former Barcelona and Argentina team-mate of Inter Miami captain Messi.
DID YOU KNOW?
It has quickly been determined that reinforcements are required, with the market being scoured for potential new recruits. It is up to Beckham and the Chase Stadium board to get bodies through the door and into a star-studded squad alongside Messi.
WHAT JAVIER MASCHERANO SAID

Mascherano told reporters on the back of a disappointing 4-1 reversal against Minnesota: “I think we need to focus on bringing in someone who truly strengthens us as a team. And yes, I’m exploring options. Well, to be more precise, the club is evaluating options – especially in the attacking front.”
WHAT NEXT?
Kevin De Bruyne is one high-profile name to have been linked with Inter Miami, as he prepares to leave Manchester City as a free agent, but the Belgian will not become available for a few more weeks as the Premier League season is played to a finish.
