THE city government has partnered with Hillsview Homeowners Association, Inc. to launch a major housing development in Barangay Lumbia, aiming to deliver 1,860 new homes and address the growing demand for affordable and secure shelter.

The initiative was formalized during a recent signing of a memorandum of agreement, led by Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, who underscored the project as part of his administration’s commitment to housing accessibility for all, particularly low-income families.

“This project reflects our goal to improve the living conditions of every Kagay-anon by making decent housing available to those who need it most,” Uy said during the ceremony.

Cesar Pagapula-an Jr., acting department manager of the City Housing and Urban Development Department (Chudd), said the project is a testament to the city’s dedication to inclusive urban development and enhancing residents’ quality of life.

The multi-stakeholder collaboration includes private construction firms such as JQ International Construction Inc., which will play a key role in implementing the project efficiently and equitably.

Pagapula-an noted that the development is not only a housing solution but also a vehicle for community building and improved neighborhood safety.

“This is about creating resilient, connected communities where families thrive in a secure and supportive environment,” he said.

The construction phase is also expected to generate job opportunities for local workers, contributing to economic activity in the area.

Mayor Uy reaffirmed that the housing program is a top priority for his administration. He expressed optimism that the project will help make Cagayan de Oro a more livable, equitable, and progressive city.

The development aligns with the city’s long-term vision of ensuring that all residents have access to safe, decent, and affordable housing.
