ANYTHING too much is bad, even in indulging in hard work for a living.

This is the sad reality that befell another popular figure in the local entertainment industry, make-up artist and fashion model Randy Santos who collapsed and died while doing his thing on the runway inside a Barangay Lapasan mall, Cagayan de Oro City on Saturday.

Cautioned earlier by co-workers to forego performing the ramp walk with other models in a cause-oriented show for breast cancer as he already looked haggard for spending so much time in other endeavors, the middle-aged Santos from Barangay Agusan, Cagayan de Oro City still proceed on doing what he loved most.

He did succeed in getting the audience’s attention when it was his turn to take the floor but while about to exit the runway, Santos appeared dizzy as he felt his head with his hand before falling and expired later in a nearby hospital.

“This is his dream…wearing my creations in his final runway walk…Great job Rans! Ma mi miss kita forever,” wrote local Fashion Show organizer Ruvil Neri on his Facebook wall.

“I’m grateful for our special times together and for being my first makeup artist when I was just starting with MAQ. We had our first conversation when you showed me how to wear contact lenses without getting my mom’s approval because you said I looked good in them. Time passes by so quickly that we never know when a dear friend will pass away. We appreciate how kind you are and the joy you have brought into the world,” shared another friend, model C K Una Herrera.

It can be recalled that one entertainer, former Thrives singer Tyler Sia, who became a barangay kagawad of Puntod, suffered a similar fate during the Liga Night festival at the Rio de Oro Boulevard in August.

In a stage performance with fellow barangay officials doing ethnic dance in colorful costumes, the 54-year-old Tyler apparently stumbled on the floor at the back spot of the group and never recovered.

Bisan sa kalisod ug kapit-os sa panahon, dili gyod kita magpa-overwork or over-fatigue aron taas pa atong lahotay sa kalibutan. Apan dalaygon si Sir Randy kay iya g’yong gihatag iyang best performance,” said journalist Nef Luczon of the Philippine News Agency.
