India, July 9 -- For a designer who has spent decades defining Indian couture, Manish Malhotra's Paris Haute Couture Week debut was never going to be just another runway show. Instead of opening with his trademark spectacles, he chose something far more intimate. Titled MAA, the collection was a tribute to the woman who shaped him, transforming personal memory into couture through craft, silhouette and storytelling.

Staged at the historic Pavillon Cambon Capucines, Manish Malhotra's Paris debut was an ode to his mother -MAA. It unfolded across four chapters: Cocoon, Bond, Becoming and Abundance. Each of the chapters tracing a different stage in the evolving relationship between a mother and child. Protective, cocoon-like silhouettes gradually softened into fluid drapes and sculptural gowns, mirroring a journey from nurture to independence. Motherhood appeared both literally and symbolically throughout the collection, from a striking bodice depicting a mother cradling her child to sari-inspired forms reimagined through exaggerated capes, architectural shoulders and voluminous couture. Vintage salli, zardozi and intricate hand embroidery ran through the collection, while a palette of oxblood, champagne, blush and ivory echoed the florals and memories that inspired the designer's tribute.
The evening also marked the unveiling of Manish Malhotra High Jewellery's newest collection, adding another dimension to the house's growing identity. Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, kunzites and rubellites were styled alongside the couture looks, turning each ensemble into a complete expression of the brand's evolving universe.
On the runway, familiar faces including Neelam Gill and Kirandeep Chahal brought the collection to life, while the front row generated plenty of conversation of its own. One of the night's most talked-about moments saw Isha Ambani seated alongside Anna Wintour, an image that quickly went viral as Indian luxury met one of fashion's most influential figures.
From its emotional narrative to its sculptural couture and jewellery debut, MAA signalled an important new chapter for Manish Malhotra.
