Reborn Rookie episodes 5 and 6 recap: Yong-ho becomes the architect of the succession war
Episode 5 of the 2026 K-drama begins with Jae-gyeong growing increasingly suspicious of Jun-hyeon's actions after his rapid rise within the company. Rather than backing down under scrutiny, Jun-hyeon firmly establishes his independence and refuses to become a pawn in her plans.
His biggest gamble comes when Lee Sang-jae confronts him directly. Realising that secrecy can only take him so far, Jun-hyeon reveals the truth to his trusted confidant and claims that he is actually Kang Yong-ho. The revelation marks a turning point as Yong-ho begins to rely on a small circle of allies while continuing his investigation from within the company.
Meanwhile, the battle for GF Solution becomes the latest front in the succession war. After Jae-gyeong and Jae-seong both move to acquire the struggling company, Yong-ho and Bang-geul recognise an opportunity to exploit their rivalry. Working together, they approach GF Solution's leadership with an unconventional proposal that allows them to manipulate the bidding process from behind the scenes.
As both siblings become determined to secure the acquisition, competition drives the price higher and higher. By encouraging their rivalry, Yong-ho transforms himself from an observer into a kingmaker capable of influencing the entire succession battle.

Episode 6 of the series focuses on the consequences of Yong-ho's increasingly ambitious strategy. After discovering that Tae-ha Group chairman Na Byung-mo is backing Jae-seong's efforts, Yong-ho carefully adjusts his plans to target not only his children but also the outside forces attempting to influence Choiseong Group's future.
Although Jae-gyeong ultimately secures GF Solution, the victory comes at a high cost. Yong-ho's scheme forces her to spend far more resources than expected while simultaneously weakening Jae-seong's position. By setting the siblings against one another, he succeeds in reducing both of their influences.
At the same time, Bang-geul's role continues to grow as she becomes one of the few people willing to work alongside Jun-hyeon despite the mysteries surrounding him. Their partnership becomes increasingly important as they pursue new leads connected to the wider conspiracy.
Episode 6 of the mystery series builds on this momentum by shifting part of the story outside the boardroom. Jun-hyeon, Bang-geul, and Park Bong-gi leave on an overseas trip that initially appears to be a vacation but quickly reveals itself as another calculated move. Promotional material suggests that Jun-hyeon and Bang-geul even go undercover as a couple while pursuing their objectives.
As the succession battle intensifies, Jun-hyeon also continues turning the tables on Jae-gyeong, proving that he remains several steps ahead of his rivals. By the end of the episode, Yong-ho's influence over the conflict has never been greater. Still, his growing success also makes him a bigger target for those determined to uncover his true identity and stop his plans.
