(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be experiencing fair weather all throughout the day despite the emergence of the southwest monsoon or "habagat," bringing rain in many areas of the country, the state weather agency said on Tuesday.
Weather specialist Chenel Dominguez of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it has not monitored any low pressure area forming or entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days.
On Monday, the national weather bureau declared the onset of the rainy season which would affect particularly the western sections of the archipelago for a couple of months.
Dominguez said Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, and Pampanga would likely have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
Another weather system that has reemerged, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), will also brings cloudy skies and rains, in Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental, the Pagasa forecaster said.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, will likely have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms, the state weather agency said.
