THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said its disaster response capabilities were bolstered by a donation of five volunteer emergency response vehicles and a service vehicle from the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as a bloodmobile unit from the Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte District 3800 and Rotary Club of Gyeongju East District 3630.
"The Philippine Red Cross has been busier and more involved. These additional assets are very useful for our continued efforts to alleviate human suffering. I'm glad to see our donors and chapters here today. I encourage everyone to support the PRC Safe Card, which contributes to expanding our fleet, including ambulances, food trucks, water tankers, and field hospitals. All of these benefit the Filipino people and the nation," PRC Chairman Dick Gordon said during the turnover ceremony at the PRC National Headquarters in Mandaluyong on Wednesday.
The five volunteer emergency response vehicles, designed to support critical operations, would be deployed to PRC chapters in Northern Samar, Agusan del Sur, General Santos-Sarangani, South Cotabato, and Zamboanga Sibugay.
The service vehicle would be stationed at the PRC Chapter in Sulu to enhance logistical support in the area.
The bloodmobile unit, equipped with donor beds and sterile blood collection systems, would ensure swift delivery of blood supplies to remote places.
"These assets will be supporting our operations on the ground. This is so important to make our presence felt during our emergency and disaster responses. To our donors, thank you for making the PRC your partner of choice," said PRC Secretary-General Dr. Gwen Pang.
