THE Department of Transportation’s Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (DOTr-MRT 3) recorded a total of 141,626,536 passengers in 2025, higher than the 135,885,336 commuters served in 2024, the agency said.
DOTr-MRT 3 attributed part of the increase to operational initiatives implemented throughout the year, including the continued rollout of its free ride program. Data from the rail line showed that 3,315,657 passengers benefited from the Libreng Sakay scheme in 2025.
The agency also reported growing adoption of cashless fare payments. Since the launch of the cashless payment system in July 2025, a total of 3,737,499 passengers have used the option to pay for their fares.
MRT 3 General Manager Michael Capati stated the rail line remains focused on improving commuter experience and service reliability.
“We commit to continue working to improve further the commuting experience on our line,” Capati said.
The DOTr-MRT 3 thanked commuters for their continued trust and said it aims to deliver better service in 2026 as part of the government’s broader transport modernization efforts.
