MANILA, Philippines — Visayas and Mindanao and some parts of Luzon will have scattered rains and thunderstorms due to a low pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Monday.

Weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA was estimated at 495 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

Likely to become a tropical depression within two to four days, the LPA has been bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in Visayas, Bicol Region, Caraga, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The southwest monsoon has weakened and is only affecting the rest of Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Pagasa said.

Aurelio said the National Capital Region and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the effects of the localized thunderstorms.
