MANILA, Philippines — Filipino cue artist Carlo Biado's bid for the Men’s World 8-Ball Championship title ended in heartbreak as he lost to Poland’s Wiktor Zielinski in the quarterfinals on Wednesday (Philippine time) in Rockford, Illinois, US.
Despite being down 5-1, Biado fought to close the gap at 9-8, Zielinski eventually prevailed, 10-8, to advance to the tournament’s semifinal stage.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Biado said it just did not go his way.
“Quarter Finals in World 8 Ball, didn't quite go as planned. Had a straight ball going to 8, but it slipped away. Still, thankful for the Mixed doubles run with Rubilen Amit and the chance to compete in this kind of event,” he wrote.
“It’s time to go home and spend time with my family for almost 2 months straight playing. All I can say is -Thank you for all your support and prayers,” Biado added. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
