After nearly four years apart as a whole group, K-pop supergroup BTS is officially reuniting.
In a livestream Tuesday night on Weverse, the seven-member South Korean boy band announced a full-group comeback with a new album and a global tour scheduled for spring 2026. This marks the first time all members have appeared together publicly since beginning their military enlistments in 2022.
“We’re planning to release a new group album next spring. Starting in July, all seven of us will gather and begin preparations. Since this is a full group album, it will reflect everyone’s thoughts. We’re approaching it with the mindset of going back to our roots,” said leader RM, seated alongside Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook.
No title or release date was provided, but the members emphasized that this would be a full studio album, not a compilation or solo project.
“We’re approaching it like we did in the early days,” said j-hope. “All seven of us, one vision, one sound.”
This will be BTS’ first group release since 2022’s “Proof” and their first full-length studio album since “Be” in 2020. It also marks their return to touring, with a new world tour expected to launch shortly after the album’s release.
“We’re planning a world tour to go along with the new album. We’ll be visiting different parts of the world, so please look forward to it,” RM added.
The Weverse broadcast drew over seven million live viewers within 30 minutes.
The announcement follows Suga’s official discharge from alternative service on June 21, making BTS fully free of military commitments. Jin, the group’s eldest, completed his service earlier in June 2024 and recently wrapped a solo fan tour. Meanwhile, j-hope is scheduled to perform at Lollapalooza Berlin later this month.
Also known as the Bangtan Boys, BTS was formed in 2010 and is the best-selling artist in South Korean history, with 44.91 million albums sold globally.
Among their most colossal hits are the songs “Dynamite,” “Butter,” “Permission to Dance,” “Boy With Luv,” and “Fake Love,” among many others.
