LPA, 'habagat' will bring more rains over several parts of PH

THE low pressure area (LPA), now 275 kilometers northwest of Baer, Aurora or 85 km west-northwest of Bacnotan, La Union, and the southwest monsoon (habagat) would bring more rains to several parts of the Philippines, the state-run weather agency said early Monday morning.

Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPA -- which has been bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Ilocos region, Abra, and Benguet -- remains unlikely to intensify into a tropical depression.

Meanwhile, habagat would bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Bicol region, parts of Visayas, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Pgasa said.

"The same weather system would affect Mindanao where isolated downpours or thunderstorms would be likely," Badrina said.

The rest of Luzon would be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

It warned that flash floods or landslides might occur in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rains from the LPA and the southwest monsoon.
