A dog’s dramatic response to wearing her harness for a walk has gone viral online, and internet users can’t get enough of the theatrics.
Dog owner Will Stout, 25, has taken the internet by storm with a hilarious video of his golden retriever’s completely normal reaction to her harness. During the clip, Stout can be seen putting the blue harness on his pup in preparation for another walk, but there’s just one problem—she detests wearing it.
Rather than leaping up in excitement, the golden retriever sat completely still with her neck stretched out, craning her head forward. Her legs remained tense as she froze in place on the sofa, unsure what to do next.
The caption layered over the clip jokes that she “likes going out. Hates her harness.”
Social media users can’t get enough of the dog’s comical theatrics. In just a matter of days, the video has gone viral on TikTok (@will.stout), generating over 2.7 million views and more than 442,600 likes online at the time of writing.
Newsweek has contacted @will.stout via TikTok for comment. We could not verify the details of the video.
Alongside the clip, Stout joked that his golden retriever is the “most dramatic dog” ever. The video evidence would certainly suggest that claim is true. This isn’t news to Stout however, as he called his dog “the queen of being awkward” in a TikTok comment.
There’s nothing wrong with the harness itself or the way it fits her. The golden retriever just has a mind of her own and clearly isn’t afraid to express her emotions.
Stout regularly shares videos of their outdoor adventures, from fishing expeditions to hikes in the freezing temperatures. The dog undoubtedly loves all the escapades she gets to enjoy, even if it does mean having to wear the dreaded harness.
Since the TikTok video went viral, plenty of social media users have lauded the dog’s melodramatic reaction. This has led to more than 1,000 comments on the TikTok post already, as many couldn’t get enough of the extraordinary posture that the dog displayed which is highly reminiscent of a gamer.
One comment reads: “at some point they really have to get over it.”
Another TikTok user wrote: “They can be so awkward sometimes.”
Another person replied: “My dog has the exact same harness. And also, loves going out, hates the harness.”
While one commenter jested: “I think it’s the color! Maybe pink or coral would look nice on her?”
