We’ve already seen plenty of footage from the new “Harry Potter” TV show, but who will be playing Lord Voldemort is still a mystery at this point.

A new, young cast are taking on the iconic roles in this reboot of the Wizarding World, while the likes of Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu, and John Lithgow have key parts to play.

That’s all the good guys covered, then, but what about the villains? Obviously, Voldemort is one of the most formidable and iconic baddies in movie history, and credit must go to Ralph Fiennes for how he embodied that character.

The idea of anyone else filling his cloak feels daunting, but someone has to do it. It’s the one role we’ve not had any firm news on so far, but Fiennes himself has put forward his recommendation.

Speaking to Claudia Winkleman (via BBC News) about the HBO project, Fiennes was asked about rumors suggesting none other than Tilda Swinton would be a good fit for the role of the evil wizard, and the esteemed actor agreed she would be a “fantastic” choice.

Indeed, she would. But, what about Fiennes coming back to play He Who Must Not Be Named once more?

“I remember being asked the question ‘would I reprise the part?’ This was some years ago. And I said: ‘Yes, I’d love to.'” Sadly, though, it seems no one has officially asked Fiennes to do so, as he insisted “nothing’s happened” and he believes “that ship has sailed.”

The “Harry Potter” TV series hits the small screen in December, but it is still unknown when exactly we will see the titular hero come face to face with his arch-nemesis for the first time.
