Lakers Make Bronny James Roster Decision Before Kings Game

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off an impressive win over the Golden State Warriors and are looking to get a second straight victory on Sunday night against the Sacramento Kings.

LeBron James was the team’s second leading scorer in defeating Golden State, scoring 22 points. King James also dished out nine assists and grabbed seven rebounds in the team’s win, which saw the Lakers leading at the end of each quarter.

Since mid-February, LeBron’s son, Bronny James, has been absent from the Lakers’ roster for the team’s past five games. He last played for the Lakers in their Feb. 12 matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, playing two minutes and missing the only shot he attempted.

While LeBron continues to lend his skill to the Lakers, the younger James has been putting in time developing his game with the team’s G League squad, the South Bay Lakers.

According to Lakers Nation’s Trevor Lane on Sunday, Los Angeles recalled Bronny James, along with forward Adou Thiero, from South Bay for their main roster.

Bronny logged 11 games and started in each of them with South Bay. During his time in the G League, he’s averaged 21.9 points, 5.5 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game, showing some promise in his development.

He participated in 29 of the Lakers’ games this season, averaging just 2.2 points and 1.2 assists in the 7.3 minutes he played per game.

A former USC star, the No. 55 pick for the Lakers in the second round of last year’s NBA Draft, is now active for the team’s game against the Kings. Meanwhile, his father was listed as “questionable” due to a foot injury after helping Los Angeles snap their three-game losing streak last night.

It remains to be seen if Bronny James can prove his value on the hardwood as someone capable of contributing to an NBA team. While he has his father to help mentor him, he is also living in the shadow of the NBA superstar’s legendary career.
