The adorable bond between a 20-year-old cat who stepped up to raise her grandson has melted hearts across the internet.

Though there may be 18 years difference between the cat named Missie and her grandson, Bosse, 2, they have become quite the inseparable duo. Their owner, who goes by her social media handle @catbosse3, tells Newsweek that both cats “love each other so much,” and they provide one another with endless comfort and joy.

The owner was just 4 years old when Missie was born, and she’s been with her ever since. They’ve created so many fond memories in two decades, and it’s been so rewarding to see Missie become a grandmother also.

“Missie has always been a constant, loving presence, and I was there when Bosse was born, so I’ve cared for him from the very first moments of his life. Watching him grow from such a small kitten into the cat he is today has been incredibly special,” @catbosse3 said.

“The moment he was born, I felt an immediate connection. From the very start, there was something truly special about Bosse. He’s a gentle and loving cat with so much affection to give. Watching him grow has been such a joy.”

Indeed, it appears that Bosse has also been a rejuvenating presence for Missie. Before he was born, she became quite sick and the family were concerned they would lose her. But once Bosse was born, her strength started to return, and she rediscovered her energy with him around.

Bosse’s mom, Estellie, was born in 2012 but she sadly passed away in 2024. Bosse was just a year old at the time, so Missie stepped up to raise him and provided that maternal caring figure he needed.

“I’m incredibly grateful that we had a short but beautiful period where three generations lived together,” the owner said. “Those memories feel even more meaningful now.

“After that, Missie and Bosse became even closer, and their bond grew in a very beautiful way. They sleep next to each other, care for and respect each other, and sometimes enjoy spending time outside together.”

Their owner started documenting Missie and Bosse’s adorable bond on social media (@catbosse3 on TikTok) and the internet can’t get enough of the grandma and grandson duo. Many of the videos have gone viral, including one that shows the two cats cuddled up to each other, despite the 18-year-differnece.

The owner said she was struck by their “truly special bond” and wanted to share it with others. She had no idea that people would be so moved by the duo and leave such positive messages and comments.

Missie and Bosse are just living their best lives in each other’s company, but their owner @catbosse3 hopes their videos will highlight the importance of connection – regardless of age.

She continued: “It’s amazing to see how two cats can bring so much comfort and happiness to people, and I’m inspired to keep sharing their journey with the world. I feel so grateful for all the love and support people have shown Missie and Bosse. Their bond reminds me of the power of connection, care, and the joy that comes from simply being together.”

In just a matter of days, a video of Minnie and Bosse has generated over 8.3 million views and 1.7 million likes on TikTok so far. At the time of writing, there’s over 3,700 comments on the post, as social media users took to the comments to praise their unbreakable bond.

One comment reads: “she looks so good for a 20-year-old cat!”

Another TikTok user wrote: “so sad that the grandma cat lost her daughter.”

While another person replied: “the grandma still looks like a baby.”
