The adorable place a dachshund has started hiding her toys before Christmas has melted hearts, earning herself the title of “Santa’s #1 elf.”

While dog owner Amelia Gravelin, 24, has been getting into the holiday spirit, it appears that her dachshund is too. The Christmas tree has been up in her Indiana home since November 1, as Gravelin told Newsweek that Rory, the 10-month-old dachshund was “very curious” about initially.

But now it seems that Rory has found a new purpose for the Christmas tree after all.

Indeed, Gravelin started putting her wrapped presents under the tree, and Rory decided to copy that in her own way. Rather than neatly wrapped gifts ready and waiting, Rory started placing her toys and bones beneath the tree instead.

“She put one of her toys in a bag under it, and now she always hides her bones under it too,” Gravelin said. “I have another video of her sitting a different toy on top of a gift, as if it went with the gift.

“I just thought it was cute when she first did it. She’s always been a toy hider, but this was the cutest spot she’s ever put stuff.”

Gravelin shared a video on TikTok (@rory.the.weenie) showing the precious moment Rory looked proudly at her contribution under the tree. The clip shows her sitting beside it, while the camera closes in on her favorite bone placed gently on the tree skirt.

In just a matter of days, the video has melted hearts as internet users are obsessed with Rory’s heartwarming gesture. It’s gone viral with over 75,900 views and more than 13,600 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

This may be Rory’s first Christmas, but she’s certainly getting into the festive spirit. Needless to say, Gravelin was more than happy to leave Rory’s bone safely where she’d left it.

“We always keep her things where she puts them. She’ll eventually find them and move them herself,” Gravelin continued.

Shortly after seeing where Rory put her belongings, Gravelin had a horrifying thought. She wrote on TikTok that she wondered if Rory was placing toys under the tree because “she thinks she has no presents” under there otherwise.

That’s far from the truth though, as Rory will be opening plenty of gifts when the big day rolls around.

Numerous social media users took to the comments to praise the dog’s attempt to copy her owner. The online reaction to the video is far more than Gravelin anticipated, and she’s so glad her dachshund pup could put a smile on so many faces.

One comment on the video reads: “She’s wrapping up her own treasures for you.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “Maybe it’s her present for you.”

Another person replied: “Her contribution doesn’t go unnoticed.”

While one commenter called her “Santa’s #1 elf.”
