While trying to capture an adorable picture of her pup, a dog owner was left stunned to see what the 3-month-old German shepherd has now learned to do.
Since Gabby Bell, 25, brought home Creed the German shepherd, she has loved watching his personality flourish as he continues to grow. Creed has certainly caused his fair share of mischief during the early weeks, but if it was naptime or Bell just needed a moment of peace, she could use the play pen to temporarily keep him confined.
However, while Bell, of Hinsdale, Illinois, tried to capture a cute photo of her puppy, she couldn’t believe what she saw. Creed managed to stand up on his hind legs, leaning against the pen, only to climb out immediately after. The ease with which Creed escaped stunned Bell, as she told Newsweek that she actually found it “quite impressive,” considering how young he still is.
“My first thought was, well, that puppy pen was fun while it lasted,” Bell said. “We were trying to capture a cute picture of him when he stands up against the playpen and hangs his elbow out to the side, like he’s scolding us for thinking that puppy play pen could stop him from getting right back to our side.”
Creed is a ball of energy who constantly keeps Bell on her toes. There is hardly anything in her home that doesn’t have teeth marks in it now, as the German shepherd loves to explore, chase and chew everything.
Creed also loves all the attention he gets, so it is really no surprise he wanted to get out of the play pen and find the nearest person to give him fuss.
Bell continued: “He is the cutest land shark you’ll ever meet. He relaxes by chewing his toys or puppy chews while lying in my lap or at our feet. He’s the champ at sniffing out the best sticks in the yard and, if we allowed it, he would probably eat sticks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
Bell shared the hilarious footage on TikTok (@gabbyxbell) showing the moment Creed broke out of the confines of the play pen. Internet users can’t get enough of the dog’s adorable antics, and the clip has gone viral with over 600,000 views and more than 104,000 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
Layered over the footage, the caption jokes that Bell “tried to take a cute pic of our new puppy, only to learn he can now do this.”
The online response to the TikTok video is beyond anything Bell expected, and she has loved connecting with so many other German shepherd owners who understand exactly what the breed is like. Indeed, many of their stories have shown that escaping the play pen pales in comparison with the chaos that is yet to come.
“We look forward to capturing more funny and cute moments of Creed as he ages,” Bell said. “He does have a crate that he takes daily naps in, and by no means did we think that play pen was escape-proof for such a smart breed. Now he roams freely as the owner of this house, meaning more mischief to come if we’re not too careful.”
In just a matter of days, the hilarious video has amassed over 975 comments on TikTok as internet users lauded Creed’s quick thinking.
