One month after its successful release, NetEase Games will launch Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls this week. The multiplayer hero shooter will add a lot of new content for free in the three-month-long season, including new characters, maps, and game modes.

The new update sees the Fantastic Four joining the fight against Dracula, who is this season's big bad. If you care about the game's lore, Dracula will use the power of the Chronovium to plunge New York City into darkness, bringing "an army of vampiric creatures" with him.

Here is everything coming to Marvel Rivals Season 1, which launches on January 10, 2025.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 updates in brief:

Marvel Rivals Season 1 new characters

NetEase is finally adding members of the Fantastic Four this season, but not all of them will arrive simultaneously. Here is when the Fantastic Four will be added to the game, which is sure to spice up our tier list for the game:

Marvel Rivals Season 1 new maps

Marvel Rivals season 1 will add three new maps, with the first one available at the start of the season. Here are the new maps coming to the game:

Marvel Rivals Season 1 game modes and updates

Marvel Rivals is also getting a new "arcade mode" called Doom Match. In it, 8-12 players across different factions will battle each other on a single map. The top 50% of players at the end of the match will be considered the winning team.

In Midtown, players will escort the adorable H.E.R.B.I.E robot from the Baxter building to the Avengers tower while fending off Dracula's vampire legions. On this map, a unique mechanic called Recursive Destruction lets players turn back time à la Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 event rewards

Like many live-service games, Marvel Rivals is also hosting a seasonal event, known as Midnight Features. Players will be given different tasks to complete for rewards, which include new outfits, exclusive galleries, nameplates, and more.

If you love watching Twitch streamers play Marvel Rivals a lot, you can participate in a new round of Twitch drops for the game. Marvel Rivals' new Twitch Drops will reward you with the Hela: Will of Galacta spray, nameplate, costume, and more.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 battle pass details

Unlike season 0's battle pass, the season 1 battle pass will be a full-priced pass lasting beyond the current season. The Eternal Night Fall Luxury Battle Pass costs 990 Lattice ($USD 9.99 or regional equivalent) and includes 10 costumes, sprays, and emotes.

Of course, if you don't want to pay to earn its rewards, you can still progress through the battle pass in its free tier. Completing the Eternal Night Falls Battle Pass will reward you with 600 Lattice and 600 Units.

Marvel Rivals Season 1 competitive ranking update explained

NetEase is also adding a new major rank to the game. The "Celestial" rank sits between the "Grandmaster" and "Eternity" ranks. Additionally, the ranking system will be reset in the new season, but not all players will start from Bronze 1. NetEase hasn't revealed the exact details of its changes to the system, but we know that those who achieved a Platinum 1 rank in season 0 will start from Silver in season 1.

You can learn more about the game's upcoming changes in NetEase's latest dev vision vol. 3 video.

Marvel Rivals is available for free on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. There are plenty of more Marvel games in development if you like other genres, along with other multiplayer games.
