Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo will remain with the team for the rest of the season, and no one is happier than the 31-year-old himself.
Antetokounmpo took to social media and posted the iconic “I’m not leaving” clip from Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Wolf of Wall Street.
The Greek Freak wrote, “Legends don’t chase. They attract.”
The two-time NBA MVP will remain in Milwaukee after months of speculation about his uncertain future with the team. For months, reports have surfaced that Antetokounmpo wants out of Milwaukee. Mainly, it was ESPN’s Shams Charania who would report on Antetokounmpo, stating that a trade is imminent.
However, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks consistently pushed back on the reports. Milwaukee had grown tired of Charania’s posts, taking two major shots at him — one before the deadline and another afterward.
One of the posts was a yawning emoji after Charania himself reported that the Bucks informed teams that he will stay in Milwaukee for the rest of the season.
The other came a few minutes after the deadline. They took to X saying, “Just In: Conversations have started about @ShamsCharania’s future, and discussing whether the ESPN Senior NBA Insider’s best fit is staying on Giannis’ All-Star Celebrity team or elsewhere.”
Does Giannis Antetokounmpo Want to Remain in Milwaukee?
The 10-time NBA All-Star has consistently expressed his desire to remain in Milwaukee. The clip he posted on his personal social media showed that, and so did his comments to Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
“Brother, if you ask me deep down what I want today, I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career,” Antetokounmpo said.
“We always go back to the Bucks, the Bucks, the Bucks, and if I’m going to stay here, if I’m not gonna stay here,” Antetokounmpo said. “Let’s put the Bucks on the side for one second. Let’s talk about the city itself, the memories that I’ve created here. When you open my kids’ passports, it says Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I had four kids in the span of the last five years in this city. My dad is buried in this city. I’ve built a house for my mom 10 seconds away from my house. Literally, to walk to my mom’s front door, it takes me four seconds … right next door.
“On what planet, on what Earth, would somebody want to leave this?”
Antetokounmpo is currently sidelined with a calf injury. A timetable for his return is unclear.
