Golden Retriever Pup Left Uncrated, Hysterics at What Owner Sees on Pet Cam

A young golden retriever has gone viral on social media after his owner decided to let him roam freely while home alone for the first time.

The 7‑month‑old pup, Sully, was left uncrated while his owner was out, and the pet cam captured exactly what happens when a puppy realizes there are no rules.

The clip, shared on Sunday by TikTok user @sullythegoldie, shows the energetic puppy making himself completely at home. With the living room all to himself, he wastes no time hopping onto the couch before boldly climbing onto the table. Once there, the pup stretches out and settles in as if it were his personal relaxation spot.

“Letting our 7-month-old puppy free roam for the first time home alone,” reads layover text in the video. What follows is pure puppy mischief, the kind many dog owners will recognize immediately.

The caption says: “New favourite nap spot unlocked.” And, based on Sully’s content expression as he lounges across the tabletop, he seems to have fully embraced his unexpected discovery.

Puppies at that age may not know what behavior is acceptable yet, and that is why training is important. Experts at Pet MD say puppy training should begin as soon as a puppy is brought home, typically around 8 weeks of age.

At this stage, puppies are capable of learning basic cues such as sit, stay, and come. Early training and socialization help create a strong foundation for adulthood by encouraging confidence and appropriate behavior.

The most effective and scientifically supported training method is positive reinforcement, which involves rewarding desired behaviors with treats, toys, praise, or attention rather than using punishment or harsh corrections.

Because puppies have short attention spans, training sessions should be brief—around five minutes—and repeated consistently throughout the day. Consistency in commands, routines, and expectations helps pups understand what is required of them.

Training should also take place in different environments to help puppies adapt to new sights, sounds, and situations. Patience is essential, as young dogs learn at different speeds and will make mistakes while developing new skills.

Establishing consistent routines for feeding, play, and rest can also help puppies feel secure and more receptive to learning.

The light‑hearted moment has struck a chord on social media. Since being posted, the video has quickly gained traction and gone viral, amassing more than 1.3 million views and over 102,000 likes on TikTok.

One user, BB90, commented: “I’ll think you’ll find he was playing the floor is lava.”

Khaleesi’s Crochet Creations said: “He’s just standing guard he’s got big shoes to fill.”

Ivory Carver added: “He was just bored so he decided to sit high and keep and eye out on the place, but overall he’s a good boy!”
