Draymond Green Gives Warriors a Shot of Honesty

The Golden State Warriors have won just four of their past 10 games. At this point, the team’s outspoken star Darymond Green is questioning his team’s commitment.

“I think everybody was committed to winning and doing that any way possible,” Green told reporters, pointing to last season. “Right now, it doesn’t feel that way.”

He expanded on that idea further, according to ESPN.

“I think everyone has a personal agenda in this league, but you have to make those personal agendas work within the team confines. If it doesn’t work, you kind of got to get rid of your agenda or eventually the agenda is the cause of someone getting rid of you.”

The Warriors entered the 2025-2026 NBA season with high expectations. Over the summer, Green boldly claimed that Golden State was gunning for the NBA title, following an intense workout with Jimmy Butler.

This year marks the first season Butler is playing a full year with the Warriors. Golden State even got its top free agent back, as Jonathan Kuminga inked a short-term deal after a summer full of drama. Everything was falling into place, and the Warriors got off to a strong start by winning all but one of their first five games.

Since then, they’ve had a pattern of picking up two losses for every one of their wins. On Tuesday night, Green and the Warriors suffered a blowout loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It’s too early to call a matchup a barometer game, but if it were, it was a bad look for the Warriors, who lost by 24 to the defending champions.

Green is hopeful that a shot of honesty will help his teammates realize what needs to be done in order to start getting back on track with consistent wins. Jimmy Butler highlighted limiting turnovers as one of the factors that need to improve right away. Green clearly wants to see more selfless play.

The jury is still out on whether the ninth-seeded Warriors can establish themselves as one of the top contenders in a tough Western Conference, but they are one of the few teams that hold a high level of championship pedigree, which is a major plus. The Warriors won it all in 2022—and for Green and Steph Curry—they have four titles on the shelf.

On Wednesday night, the Warriors will be back in action against the San Antonio Spurs. They are slated for an 8 PM ET tip.
