A golden retriever being denied entry into a children's playhouse has in equal parts moved and amused viewers online, after his frustrated reaction was caught on camera and shared to TikTok by his owner.

The video, posted under @madelinecw_ on June 14, shows the dog persistently pawing at the closed door of a small plastic playhouse, visibly disheartened after being shut out by his owner's niece and nephew. Although the scene unfolded without words, the dog's body language communicated volumes; it is clear that he wanted to be let in.

The overlaid text on the footage added more context: "My niece and nephew shut the playhouse door on my dog, and he is acting like a left out cousin." The short clip has garnered more than 660,000 views and over 183,000 likes to date, drawing both widespread sympathy and amusement from viewers on TikTok.

Golden retrievers are widely regarded for their gentle temperament, emotional intelligence and agreeable nature, traits that make them especially expressive in family settings and great companions to children.

The golden retriever's humanlike reaction—a scratch on the door using his paw akin to how someone would knock—has triggered an outpouring of comments.

Many viewers compared the dog's demeanor to that of a human feeling excluded from a family gathering. Several viewers have jokingly leaped to the golden retriever's defense, while others shared how their own pets would react in a similar situation.

"I've been having to get on my kids about this stuff, let the dog be involved," one viewer said.

"We need an update, did they let him in," another added. "He was knocking gently like a door to door Bible sales man."

"He deserves his own play house and a no bully's allowed in sign," a third viewer shared.

"My dog would be jumping through that window," one said. "They cannot stand when they leave her out in any capacity."

"I remember when my older cousins would lock me out," another viewer commented. "I feel his pain."

"He wants to be with his kids," a third posted. "Don't leave him out!

"He loves being with you and watching over you."

"My dog started to learn how to turn the handle, got a little scary," a different viewer added.
