The unexpected encounter a woman had during a dog walk has delighted internet users, as her “new family member” became a viral sensation on TikTok.

Megan Barrett-Grant, 32, was walking her dog through a field on April 4 when she came across an energetic new friend. While many dog walkers may be accustomed to other canines running up to them, Barrett-Grant certainly wasn’t anticipating that she would in fact be approached by some excited livestock.

Barrett-Grant, from the U.K., told Newsweek that she felt “total confusion” when she spotted a lamb bounding up to her. She captured the precious moment the animal spotted her from afar and then sprinted straight toward her, paying no mind to the fact she was a stranger with a dog.

“We were walking on a public footpath, which took us through a field with lots of lambs and ewes, and we just had get footage of how many lambs there were,” Barrett-Grant said. “Then the little lamb came running toward us, stopped within a meter and then trotted on back to the others.

“My dog was on leash but totally unfazed by it. They looked at the lamb, but, when asked to ignore and move on, they did. We have put in a lot of training with our dogs around livestock, so it’s the norm for them.”

Despite regularly walking her dog in that area, Barrett-Grant said she has “never experienced” anything like this before. The lambs normally keep their distance, but evidently the one labeled F2 decided to make a new friend that day.

Barrett-Grant couldn’t resist sharing the unexpected footage on TikTok (@lifewiththehound), much to the joy of her followers. In just a matter of days, the video of the moment “this lamb decided it was our time” has gone viral with over 391,000 views and more than 40,000 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.

The caption alongside the video notes that her dog “was on a lead” and unbothered by the lamb’s appearance. After approaching Barrett-Grant, the lamb swiftly turned back around and returned to the flock.

“Although it was a lovely and really unique experience, it does highlight the importance of having your dogs under control around livestock as you never know what can happen. Luckily, our dogs are great around livestock,” Barrett-Grant said.

She continued: “We are so lucky to be able to walk through such wonderful fields and see the gorgeous lambs, but it’s extremely important that dogs are under control at all times and don’t cause any concern for livestock.

Following this “perfect Easter moment,” Barrett-Grant never imagined it would generate so much attention on social media. The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, as many people took to the comments to laud the lamb’s fearlessness.

One comment reads: “That’s not a sheepdog, that’s a dogsheep.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “Oh wow, I’ve never seen a lamb that excited to run to someone.”

A third person quipped: “XL wooly.”
