A pizza delivery driver said their “best tip ever” did not come in cash, but on four paws in a Reddit post that quickly struck a chord with animal lovers on the platform.
The driver shared that a recent delivery run had ended with them finding an unexpected companion in a fluffy tabby cat who leapt into their car and never left. The story was shared on March 22 under u/renn_is_not_a_loser, alongside a series of images showing the gray, brown and white tabby, now named Ringo Starr, all settled into her new indoor life. The post has since been upvoted more than 14,000 times, drawing heartfelt and amused comments from viewers moved by the chance encounter.
“Delivered a pizza and came home with the best tip ever,” the cat’s new owner said.
Working as a pizza delivery driver, the owner said they pulled up to a house in December when “the sweetest cat” ran up to their car and hopped in when they opened the door. Assuming she belonged to the customer or another member of the neighborhood, the driver petted her and gently put her back outside, but their assumption quickly unraveled.
“When I got to the door, I told the guy how sweet of a cat he had,” the owner said. “It turns out she wasn’t his cat.”
They soon learned that the neighbors who previously lived there had moved away and left the cat behind. While people nearby occasionally fed her, no one was able to take her in because they already had too many pets.
“Needless to say, when offered to take her with me I did,” the cat’s owner said. “How someone could abandon such a sweet and friendly healthy girl.”
The images shared within the post trace Ringo’s dramatic transformation. One shows her first vet appointment, where she was given a clean bill of health despite being found with some matted fur. Another captured the first day they met. The remaining pictures show Ringo “living her best life indoors, safe and healthy,” stretched out comfortably in her new home.
Reddit users flooded the comments with praise for both the cat and her new owner.
“You both are so amazing. I’m glad you adopted each other,” one viewer wrote.
Another added: “Omg she is so precious! Just a beautiful girl. I don’t know how someone could have left her behind, but it’s obvious she upgraded her human!”
