In a viral Threads post, a woman asked users who don’t get manicures and pedicures the reasons behind their desicion, and the answers have gone viral.
Earlier in January, the entrepreneur from Abuja, Nigeria, Ata-nu Jennifer, under the username @jenny_nuel1, wrote: “Girls that don’t get manicures and pedicures…Why???” The post quickly went viral on social media, receiving over 76,000 likes and more than 51,000 comments on the platform.
Some women blamed their jobs. Nkalpine wrote: “Because I’m a freaking surgeon, JENNY.”
Iamjack3d said: “Because I’m too busy doing the nails, jennnnnay.”
And Av8her added: “I press buttons for a living, Jenny. Not ideal.”
Others blamed it on their pets. Latinabytes commented: “Dog toys taking all my money.”
Malinois.ron added: “Because I adopted a dinosaur jenny.”
While all these women have valid reasons not to get their nails done, many still choose to prioritize beauty, and the industry is booming.
The nail salon market is projected to grow by $9.48 billion from 2024 to 2029. Growth is largely driven by rising interest in creative nail art and a shift toward natural, organic nail care as consumers look for healthier options.
However, the industry faces pressure due to the widespread use of harsh chemicals in many products, which can cause health issues and slow market expansion. This challenge is pushing companies to develop safer, eco‑friendly alternatives.
North America is expected to account for about 30 percent of global market growth during the forecast period. To stay competitive, salons are encouraged to personalize services, strengthen their social media presence, and invest in research to improve product safety.
In terms of nail trends, the 2026 manicure season doesn’t revolve around one main look but celebrates a wide variety of colors and designs that let people express their individual style.
People are opting for a mix of soft, neutral colors and bolder shades. Milky whites, light pinks, and sheer nails are still popular for a clean, simple look.
At the same time, darker colors such as gray, brown, green, and deep blue are trending for those who want something stronger. Shiny finishes, metallic touches, and glossy “glasslike” nails are also showing up more often.
Fun designs such as blended color nails, themed sets, and small patterns like dots add personality.
