On Monday, James posted a video on X, in which he recreates his iconic “The Decision” show, where he announced his decision to join the Miami Heat back in 2010.
Due to the rumors circulating about LeBron James’ future over the summer — and his advanced age — the NBA world is theorizing that he could be teasing a retirement announcement.
The speculation has led to the ticket prices for the Los Angeles Lakers’ final regular-season game increasing dramatically.
According to TickPick, the cheapest seats at Crypto.com Arena for the Lakers’ game against the Utah Jazz in April have gone from $85 to $445.
There has been no suggestion that it will be his retirement game, but tickets for what could be his final regular-season game are being sold in anticipation of the potential announcement.
During the summer of 2010, the Akron product became a free agent for the first time in his career, freeing him to leave his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers, where he had spent the first few years of his NBA career, and join a team with a better roster and a bigger market.
Among the teams vying for his signature were the New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, and the Cavaliers.

His decision was set to be announced on July 8, 2010 via a live special. It was during this airing that he famously announced his intention to join the Miami Heat alongside his friend Dwyane Wade.
“In this fall… this is very tough… in this fall I’m going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat,” James infamously said on the broadcast.
“I feel like it’s going to give me the best opportunity to win and to win for multiple years, and not only just to win in the regular season or just to win five games in a row or three games in a row, I want to be able to win championships. And I feel like I can compete down there.”
Due to the pomp and circumstance, James received a lot of criticism for broadcasting the decision and making it so dramatic. Cavs fans took it especially hard, labeling James a traitor and burning his jersey.
