In a viral TikTok video, two house cats embark on a mission to capture a spider perched high on the ceiling, failing in the most hilarious way.

The clip shared in April under the username @tacticalcat671 shows the two cats, Jefferson and Tango, from Colorado, climbing onto a shelf, taking turns stretching their bodies to the limit, desperately trying to get to the eight-legged intruder.

"Jefferson and Tango wondering what the spider doing," the poster wrote in the caption.

Cats will hunt anything that grabs their attention, including spiders. While most spiders found in homes across the country usually are harmless, some can be venomous.

If you see a spider near your home and are worried your cat might interact with it, check your local wildlife office to determine which spiders might be a concern in your area and how to identify them.

Dr. Joanna Woodnutt says in a Catster article that the two spiders that cause most concern in America are the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse.

The Black Widow is usually about 1 inch to 1.5 inches long. Males are usually smaller and can be brown with pink or red spots and beige stripes. Females have a black body, often with a red hourglass shape on their underside.

Brown Recluse spiders are usually about a half-inch to an inch long, and the unique violin-shaped dark patch on their back is a common way to identify them. They also have six eyes in three paired clusters rather than eight eyes like most other spiders.

The video quickly went viral on social media and so far has received more than 6.7 million views and 393,900 likes.

One user, Jonny, commented: "I like how they're working as a team."

Gyoa22 said: "Black cat is long enough to reach it, he just needs to be in the spot where the white cat is."

Sunsila Gurung added: "I love how they are taking turns to catch spider, my cat also gets so curious when he sees flies."

Another user, jsmith3885, wrote: "If only their little paws could reach."

"I was rooting for them," Nuyorican said.
