Ole Miss Alum Jaxson Dart Speculates on Next Giants Coach at Fiesta Bowl

The Ole Miss Rebels had plenty of their former players in the house as they took on the Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl. That included former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and their current QB, Jaxson Dart.

New York is among the NFL teams currently seeking a new head coach after firing Brian Daboll during the season. With many recent firings occurring after the season ended, there are plenty of rumors about who will take the available head coaching vacancies.

The Giants have had plenty of great coaches, including Bill Parcells and Tom Coughlin, who guided their respective teams to Super Bowl wins. Jaxson Dart is hoping to be part of one of those teams, but it will take finding the right coach and building up additional parts of their talented roster.

As the College Football Playoff game was unfolding between Ole Miss and Miami, Dart, who holds the all-time total passing yards record at the school, was caught on camera on the sidelines in a clip that went viral.

Dart, who wore Ole Miss gear to support his team, is seen talking to an Ole Miss assistant on the sidelines. Based on what many individuals are speculating, Dart was discussing who he believes the next New York Giants coach will be.

“I don’t know.. Harbaugh or Stefanski.. but I don’t know,” Dart appears to say, referring to John Harbaugh and Kevin Stefanski.

The Baltimore Ravens just recently fired Harbaugh after he’d been their head coach for 18 years. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns fired Stefanski after six seasons as head coach, with two playoff appearances.

X commenters reacted to Dart’s viral clip, with many surprised and others expecting him to name those two coaches.

“he for sure says Harbaugh or Stefanski idk what else he could be saying,” one commenter wrote.

“By the look at the guys face when he said “Stefanski” i knew it was 100% Stefanski,” another commenter said.

“Absolutely no one should be shocked by this,” an X commenter said.

Harbaugh’s recent Ravens team narrowly missed the playoffs in the final game of the season, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a missed field goal. Meanwhile, Stefanksi’s Browns finished 5-12 and didn’t make the postseason for the second straight season.

Many people consider these coaches among the best available for many of the head coaching vacancies. Along with the New York Giants, the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and Tennessee Titans are all seeking new head coaches.

The Giants finished 4-13 and last in the NFC East, with Daboll coaching them for most of the season. However, injuries struck them, taking out young wide receiver Malik Nabors and running back Cam Skattebo for many of the team’s games.

They’ll have a high draft pick, selecting fifth in 2026, but will first need to address their head coaching situation before making the key decision on which additional players they want to add to their roster.
