A toy poodle’s enthusiastic reunion with her owner at a train station has captured hearts online, with an Instagram video of the moment racking up over 8.3 million views in just days.
In a November 14 post on the account @toypoodletoffifee, a tiny toy poodle named Toffee arrived at the train station with one of her owners, as they waited for the other to return home. But anticipation got the better of her. The moment Toffee spotted her mom walking through the gate, she raced down the stairs, skipped the last step, wagged her tail rapidly, and dashed straight into her owner’s arms.
The owner barely sneaked in a hello as the small dog bounced around with excitement. Toffee managed to tangle herself up in the owner’s earbuds after they fell out from her nonstop moving, but that didn’t stop the jumping, which didn’t faze the woman.
“It happens every time,” Toffee’s owner told Newsweek. “What makes it even sweeter is that she’s just as happy when I’ve only been gone for two hours…Watching her run towards me is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world.”
Toffee’s jumping attempt to reach her owner’s face is just one of several key signs that a dog loves their human. Newsweek previously reported that jumping up is a natural way for dogs to greet people. They want to get closer to a person’s face. It is their way of connecting.
While Toffee always greets her humans by jumping for joy, this train station holds a special place in her heart. Her owner said whenever they go to this location, they’re there to meet someone. Toffee starts getting excited “long before” they arrive.
“I truly believe only dog owners can fully understand this; that incredible moment when you realize they’ve missed you with all their heart, and all they want is to love you,” Toffee’s owner said.
Within four days, the Instagram video reached over 8.5 million views, 726,500 likes, and 2,100 comments, with viewers melting over Toffee’s precious reaction to seeing her owner again.
“I can feel the joy through the screen,” wrote one viewer.
“Now this is how you can tell you’re her favourite person ever,” another commenter said.
A third person wrote: “Oh, the flying leap off the steps! Toffee cannot contain her joy at seeing you!”
