A Utah mom captured a milestone moment between her fraternal twins—and it is going viral on the internet.
Maddie Lawrence (@mads_lawrence) initially started filming her twins, boy Asher and girl Nico, as both babies were sitting up on their own for the first time. Now at eye-level, Lawrence told Newsweek she believes this was the moment they truly noticed each other at 6 months old.
“Their reaction was pure joy,” Lawrence said. “They knew each other was there all along, but now they finally get to interact with each other.”
Unintentionally, she had set up an interaction that hadn’t worked out before. One twin would notice his sibling, but “the other baby would be distracted. I could never get them to look at each other at the same time,” Lawrence said.
By seeing each other properly, the twins also made each other laugh. “Once they locked eyes and had big smiles on their faces, I knew they saw each other and pulled out my phone as quickly as possible,” Lawrence added, sharing the footage in a clip on TikTok.
Lawrence, who is also mom to the twins’ big brother Zephyr with her partner Logan, couldn’t believe she caught the moment on camera.
Now, the twins have a “sweet and silly relationship,” she said, grabbing hands and trying to make each other laugh whenever they can.
Lawrence’s clip has gone viral on TikTok, amassing over 4.3 million views. In the comments, users couldn’t get over Asher and Nico’s first meeting.
“They’re talking about a secret mission,” one user wrote.
“I’m an identical twin and seeing twins just melts my heart. Us twins have a connection like no other and only twins get [it]. We’re lucky!” another added.
“It’s so fun when they really start interacting with each other! I have so many videos of my twins talking to each other like that [when] they were babies. It’s such a blessing,” a third commented.
For Lawrence, she described being a twin mom “like living in a constant little miracle.”
“It’s waking up every day knowing you get double the giggles, the milestones, the cuddles and the memories,” she said. “It’s looking at two tiny faces who already share a bond you can feel just by watching them. It’s feeling grateful that you get to witness a friendship forming from day one.”
