Husky Demands To Go Outside as Winter Storm Hits—Hysterics Over Attitude

While many people (and their pets) are avoiding the outdoors during the severe wintry weather, one husky has delighted the internet with her vocal demands to play in the snow.

Dog owner Dani, from Ontario, Canada, shared a clip on her dog’s dedicated TikTok account (@kona_malone) showing the one-sided discussion she had with the 8-year-old husky about going outside. The video shows Kona doing her version of talking and pawing at her owner’s leg because she was desperate to go for a walk, despite the freezing temperature and thick snow.

Ontario has recently been hit with over 2 feet of snow and is enduring temperatures as cold as -22 F. While Dani hasn’t been particularly tempted to brave the outside lately, she told Newsweek that it’s the “perfect weather” for Kona who can’t get enough of the extreme conditions.

“Kona loves the snow and cold temperatures,” Dani said. “She will spend hours outside and even knows how to open the door when she wants to come in. She is often vocal—especially if she wants something or wants attention. But it is always on her own terms, so I can’t make her talk if she doesn’t want to (typical stubborn husky).”

Social media users couldn’t get enough of Kona’s dramatics, and in just a matter of days the video went viral with over 1.1 million views and 133,800 likes at the time of writing. The caption alongside the clip jokes that it’s “too cold for a human,” although Kona didn’t seem too bothered about that.

Ultimately, Dani won the argument on this occasion and Kona had to wait a little longer for a walk. Nonetheless, she was still able to go outside and play in the yard. Indeed, Dani shared a follow-up video of Kona (and her canine sister, Juno) prancing through the dense snow.

“Kona makes me laugh so much. She has access to a large backyard and can go outside any time she wants, but I guess that isn’t as good as a walk in a snowstorm to a husky,” Dani said.

“When Kona isn’t being sassy and talking back, she loves to camp, hike and be outdoors with her family. Kona loves all four Canadian seasons,” Dani told Newsweek.

The online reaction to the TikTok video has been overwhelmingly positive. Internet users were obsessed with Kona’s vocal talents, which Dani refers to as “her unique voice.”

One comment reads: “I think huskies are genetically wired to reject the word NO!”

Another TikTok user wrote: “I had the same conversation with my husky this morning! They are so sassy, I love it.”

Another viewer said: “winter is husky girl summer. Huskies just want to soak up that weather.”

While one commenter joked: “Sounds like a you problem, not a me problem. Now get up and take me for a walk.”
