A pampered pit bull enjoying a nap in his very own toddler bed has delighted internet users who hailed the idea as “absolutely genius.”
Dog owner Zailey Wilkinson, 26, has captured hearts across social media after sharing a clip of her pit bull and vizsla mix named Axel climbing into his own miniature toddler bed. The video, which was captured on the pet cam, was posted on the dog’s dedicated TikTok account, @zailey_and_axel on January 13.
The clip shows 5-year-old Axel trotting over to the toddler bed, which was bought especially for him, in his Kansas City home and settling in for a well-earned snooze. He certainly loves relaxing in his own space, as Wilkinson told Newsweek that her pup is “pathetically spoiled.”
“When we moved, I wanted to create a whole room for him, so we got the bed right before Christmas last year,” Wilkinson said. “He uses the bed when we’re at work, although he has free rein of the whole house. He still sleeps with us though at night.”
Axel’s cozy routine has quickly become a fan favorite, with the video generating over 1.1 million views and more than 239,000 likes on TikTok at the time of writing.
The caption layered over the pet cam footage jokes that Axel’s dad said the dog “wouldn’t use the toddler bed,” but the pit bull is more than happy to prove him wrong. Wilkinson said that she and her partner agreed that he could have a man cave if Axel could also have his own room in the house. He didn’t think the toddler bed was necessary, but Wilkinson knew it would come in useful.
Now, she loves seeing Axel wander over to his own bed and relaxing in private. Indeed, she even joked in a TikTok comment that she can’t help but laugh at how much the pillows move on the bed when Axel lays down due to “the force of his flop.” Needless to say, there was nothing getting in the way of him and his beauty sleep during that moment.
Wilkinson told Newsweek: “I think it’s so cute and funny when I see the footage. He’s goofy and super energetic. He’s a 92-pound cuddle bug but, as a pit bull vizsla mix, he always needs one or two walks a day or he starts endlessly staring at us.”
The clip is part of a larger theme on the dog’s TikTok account, which regularly highlights Axel’s indulgent setup—including his own bedroom, furniture, and enrichment treats.
Since the video was posted, TikTok users flooded the comments with love for Axel’s toddler bed, as many viewers praised his owners for giving him such a luxury setup. Several commenters even chimed in with stories of their own pet‑specific bedroom setups, leading to 180 comments on the TikTok post so far.
