A proud dog owner has shared the results of a professional photo shoot for their Chiweenie, but there is a small, adorable problem.

While it may be impossible to expect a picture‑perfect performance from a canine, Zelda, a mix between a Chihuahua and a dachshund, almost nailed it. The pup struck pose after pose, but one ear appeared to have a mind of its own, refusing to stay down throughout the shoot.

The slideshow, posted by Reddit user u/graypupon, has racked up more than 34,000 upvotes at the time of writing. The March 11 post, titled “We had professional pictures taken and couldn’t get one with her ears down,” has also earned nearly 500 comments from amused viewers.

“The best part is when you tell her what a good girl she is, she can definitely hear you,” one commenter wrote.

Another added: “Strange things are happening and she doesn’t really understand, so she’s on alert. Her ears are open, listening for anything she needs to react to.”

In the comments, the owner wrote that they “spent way more money than we had planned,” but said the images will be framed and put up on the wall.

Despite the uncooperative ears, the owner said Zelda did well. They wrote: “She recently perfected ‘sit’ and definitely showed off her new knowledge.”

While professional photo shoots for pets aren’t something every owner opts for, snapping pictures of furry companions is far more common. A poll cited by the New York Post found that many pet owners are filling their camera rolls with photos of their animals rather than people.

The survey of 2,000 dog and cat owners, conducted by OnePoll on behalf of Maytag, found that 35 percent said they have more photos of their pets than humans. By comparison, 27 percent said most of their photos are of their children, while just 16 percent said they take the most pictures of their spouse or partner.

Pet parents reported taking an average of 400 photos of their animals each year, with nearly a third admitting they treat their pets like royalty. One in four said they throw birthday parties for their animals, while another quarter said they kiss their pets on the mouth.

The devotion runs even deeper for some. One in six respondents said they have a tattoo of their pet, while 45 percent said their animal sleeps in bed with them. Others replied that their pets stay close during everyday routines, with 38 percent reporting their animal sits nearby while they cook and 35 percent while they work out.

For Zelda’s owner, at least, the extra photos—and the price tag—seem well worth it, ears and all.
