Many people will argue that there’s nothing better than finishing work to find a wagging tail of a dog greeting you as you enter the door. But this horse owner may disagree.

In a viral TikTok video shared to @thecornishdingles, Beatrice, a black Shetland pony, can be seen galloping around a field to greet her owner, earning over 695,000 views.

The text layered over the January 3 clip states she is “rich in life” because of how her small horse reacts when she sees her after work.

In the comments, the owner from Cornwall, England, told one user: “Everyone wonders why I’m so quick to leave work at the end of the day—this explains it!”

Horses Hold Deep Emotional Significance

Indeed, horses can hold as much emotional significance for humans as other pets or even close relationships, according to a September 2025 study.

Researchers from the University of Turku and the University of Helsinki developed the Horse Attachment Questionnaire (HAQ), adapting a tool traditionally used for dogs and cats, to measure attachment styles between humans and horses.

Surveying 2,287 horse owners across 21 countries, the study confirmed that these bonds mirror patterns seen in human and pet relationships, defined by anxiety and avoidance.

Younger and more neurotic owners were prone to anxious attachment—worrying about losing closeness—while male owners tended toward avoidant attachment, keeping emotional distance.

Building Trust Takes Time

Another study led by researchers from the same universities found that horses may show greater hesitation in unfamiliar situations when they’ve had multiple riders, several previous owners, or have only recently joined their current owner.

Researchers examining horse–human interactions emphasize that building a strong, responsive relationship takes time. Despite thousands of years of co-evolution, which has equipped horses with remarkable social skills, these animals still need trust and consistency to thrive.

Horses are highly attuned to human emotions and excel at interpreting human cues—but patience remains key to deepening the bond.

TikTok Reacts

So far, the video has melted many hearts and earned over 1,400 comments.

“I love animals so much,” said one user.

“SO much better than humans!” replied Beatrice’s owner.

“She is absolutely beautiful,” praised another user, adding: “She couldn’t come to you any faster if she tried bless her!”

The owner responded: “It’s like she’s worried she’s [going to] miss me.”

A third user joked: “Is she disguised as a Labrador? So cute.”
