Multi-Cat Owner Checks Out Pets’ Hammock, Unprepared for What She Finds

A quiet check on a window hammock turned into a viral moment after a multi-cat household shared an unexpected scene on Instagram.

In a video posted on Monday by @reubenandrocco, three British shorthair felines are shown somehow managing to squeeze themselves onto a single hammock, leaving viewers both amused and impressed.

The clip features Reuben, Rocco and Ralphie perched together in the fabric hammock, which is attached to the window. Rather than looking uncomfortable or crowded, the trio appear completely at ease, sitting shoulder to shoulder and gazing out as if this were the plan all along.

Text overlaid on the video highlights the owner’s surprise at what she discovered. “I’m not quite sure how all three of them managed to fit on this hammock, but I’m slightly worried it’s going to drop, weight restrictions Ralphie,” the text reads, adding a playful note of concern as all three cats balance on the same spot.

The humor continues in the caption, which leans into the idea of limited space and excess baggage: “If this was a Jet2 Flight I’d be charged for extra baggage allowance. Yes that’s a pink tool set on the floor—took cat mum 2 whole days to build sliding wardrobes.”

Experts at Pet MD say that, although cats are often seen as independent, they are social animals that can benefit from companionship.

Some behavioral changes may suggest a cat is lonely and could benefit from another feline friend, though medical causes should always be ruled out first. One sign is increased clinginess, such as constant meowing, following the owner around, or demanding attention.

Changes in eating habits may also occur, with some felines eating more out of boredom while others lose interest in food due to depression. Destructive behavior, such as knocking objects over or damaging furniture, can signal boredom and lack of stimulation.

Litter box problems may appear if a cat becomes stressed or lonely. Changes in sleeping patterns—such as sleeping more and interacting less—can also indicate emotional distress.

Additionally, a noticeable drop in energy or overall enthusiasm may suggest boredom or loneliness. If a second feline is introduced, the process should be gradual because cats are territorial and need time to adjust to a new companion.
