Taylor Swift revealed a surprising favorite song from her discography while on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Asked what her five favorite songs were, she said, “Somewhere in this list, I think is going to be a song called mirrorball.” The song, which was the sixth track on Swift’s Grammy award-winning 2020 album Folklore, is something of a wildcard for a favorite. It was never a single, wasn’t on the Era’s Tour setlist, and wasn’t on Swift’s list of songs submitted for the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Why It Matters
Swift, 35, officially submitted five songs to the Songwriters Hall of Fame in November, a significant milestone in a career that has defined modern music.
Swift selected the songs All Too Well (10 Minute Version), from the 2021 re-recorded version of her 2012 album, Red, Blank Space from 2014’s 1989, Anti-Hero from 2023’s Midnight’s, The Last Great American Dynasty from 2020’s Folklore, and Love Story from her 2008 album Fearless. Four of those songs are from albums that won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, with All Too Well (10 Minute Version) being the exception.
What To Know
Speaking about Mirrorball, she said, “It came on the other day, a friend sent it to me, and she was talking about it, and I put it on, and I was just like mmm,” she said, nodding her head, before adding, “You know?”
Swift was initially flustered when answering Colbert’s question and said, “This is so much pressure.”
Swift then said that her “number one” was the ten-minute version of the song All Too Well, a response which was met with screams from the audience.
She then added that she is “really obsessed” with her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released earlier this year.
But ultimately, she said she would need a bit more time before giving a full five song list. Colbert responded to this saying, “You’ve got all the time you need before now and May,” which is a reference to the fact that his show has been cancelled by CBS and will conclude in May of 2026.
Swift’s fans, known as Swifites, were quick to share their thoughts about her and their favorite songs of Swift’s on social media.

The inductees for the Songwriters Hall of Fame will be announced in January 2026.
